Jesus did not avoid the people others rejected—He sat at their table, spoke truth, and called them to repentance. Are we willing to leave our safe circles and follow Him into the places that need His light most?
In Luke 5, Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, to leave everything behind and follow Him—and Levi responds immediately. Jesus then shares a meal with tax collectors and sinners, confronting the Pharisees’ self-righteous attitude and reminding them that the sick need a physician. This devotional challenges believers not to retreat into political, cultural, or Christian “huddles,” but to engage people across every divide with conviction, compassion, and the gospel. Following Jesus means carrying His truth into the public square without compromising His standards.
