Everyone’s raving about “Nordic socialism” — Norway, Sweden, Denmark — and saying, “Let’s make America just like them.” But is that really socialism, and does it line up with a biblical worldview of authority, property, justice, and compassion? In this devotional, we unpack the chocolate-covered M&M of Nordic policy — a capitalist core wrapped in a thick welfare shell — and then compare it to what Democratic Socialists in America are actually aiming for. Before we choose a system, we’ll ask a deeper question: what does Scripture say about government, work, and loving our neighbor?
