A Devotion for your drive into work:
What if every ache in your body, every headline from Olympia, and every policy setback was not the end of the story, but a reminder that something far better is already on the way? What if the doctor can only remodel the tent, but the King of kings has promised you a brand‑new, resurrected body patterned after the glory of Jesus Himself? In this devotional, we are going to groan honestly, hope stubbornly, and learn how to live as firstfruits of the Spirit—stewarding our bodies, families, churches, government, and workplaces—while we eagerly wait for the day our redemption is complete.
This devotional Pastor Brian Noble, unpacks Romans 8:23–25 to show that believers, as those who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while they wait eagerly for the full adoption as sons: the redemption of their bodies. It contrasts the temporary “tent” of our current, decaying bodies with the promised transformed, imperishable, and glorious resurrection bodies described in 2 Corinthians 5, Philippians 3, and 1 Corinthians 15, emphasizing that the best healthcare can only patch the tent while Christ will one day completely remake it. Listeners are urged to live as people of hope in Washington’s cultural and political pressures, faithfully stewarding every sphere—self, family, church, government, and work—without worshiping any of them, and to persevere with joy as they eagerly await Christ’s return and the completion of their redemption.
